Our founding attorney Joseph (Joe) C. Bodiford has been practicing law in Florida for more than 20 years, developing a record of success and recognition as one of the top criminal defense attorneys in the state. He is the only attorney in northern Florida with both state and national board certification in criminal law and holds an AV Preeminent peer review rating by Martindale-Hubbell.

Mr. Bodiford is well-known in courtrooms across the state, but his roots are in Tallahassee. A sixth-generation Floridian and a Tallahassee native, Mr. Bodiford is proud to serve his community by defending the rights and futures of people charged with all types of crimes, from simple drug possession to murder.

The Experience Required For Complex Cases

Mr. Bodiford is admitted to practice in Florida and in federal courts, including the Federal Middle District Court of Florida, the Federal Northern District of Florida, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeal and the United States Supreme Court.

A former assistant state attorney, Mr. Bodiford has tried over 100 jury trials and countless bench trials in both criminal and civil matters, including defending clients accused of all types of crimes in federal and Florida courts. He also has vast experience in criminal and civil appeals.

As an adjunct professor and co-director of the Trial Team at Florida State University College of Law, Mr. Bodiford developed a groundbreaking course on cross examination. He also teaches Florida Criminal Procedure and Trial Advocacy at Stetson University College of Law and has published extensively on criminal law topics.
